I started to crochet in 2012 as part of my rehab following a series of life changing strokes.
Prior to that, I was cruising through life, minding my own business as a HR manager working in London and loving life. My children were all starting to find their own way in life and it was going to be the start of a new chapter for me and my husband, but the universe had other ideas and out of the blue, just before xmas 2011, I was totally floored and ended up in hospital not sure if I would live or die.
Happily, I did live and as part of getting my mental acuity back and trying to make my left arm work again, a lovely patient lady started to teach me to crochet. At first it really was like the film ground hog day as I couldn’t remember what I had learned the day before so we went over the same things day after day after day, but eventually, after a long time, I started to remember things, my arm started to play ball and it all started to fall into place.
Fast forward to now. I design patterns, I teach people to crochet, I spend hours with a hook and yarn and it brings be untold joy and peace.
