My Fused Glass Bowls are constructed from dozens of handout pieces of glass and assembled into a circular design with the addition of glass frit.
This base design is then introduced to my kiln and heated to a temperature in excess of 800 degrees centigrade.
Additions to the design and further fusing in the kiln produces a flat design, rather like a plate, and this is ready for if final slumping into its final shape.
During each kiln visit, the design becomes more complex and layered. The colour in the glass is not just on the surface but runs through the thickness to the piece.
The bowl will spend up to 60 hours in the kiln before is final shaping visit.
Any colours can be used – contact me if you have any individual design ideas, as I am more than happy to accept commissions
