Gemstone Beadwork Necklace

Delicate and feminine Gemstone Beadwork necklace in pastel shades of pink, white and blue.

I made this piece using shimmering, translucent, 6mm faceted Opalite beads set with trios of 3.5mm faceted Pink Tourmaline surrounding a pair of 8mm Blue Lace Agate puffed hearts, and highlighted with tiny 2mm sterling silver rounds.

The necklace graduates to 4mm Opalite and Morganite beads, and fastens with a Tibetan silver rose toggle clasp. The Blue Lace Agate hearts are a pale blue-to-lilac shade, with the delicate ‘lace’ markings that give this beautiful stone its name. The faceted Pink Tourmaline adds a subtle glint and a pop of colour.

Pink Tourmaline is one of the October and Libra birthstones, and is thought to relieve anxiety and bring emotional support to the wearer. The faceted Opalite beads bring a lovely, pearly shimmer to the piece. Opalite is a manmade gemstone composed of glass and metal, designed to mimic the colours in white Opal, the prime birthstone for October and Libra. These beads have a soft, translucent luminosity with flashes of  pastel blues, pinks and greens in the light.

The Morganite beads are palest pink, semi-translucent with a delicate rose blush. Morganite is a nurturing stone, thought to enhance self confidence.

This necklace measures approximately 43cm (17 inches).
