I produce a number of different types of fused glass decorations. Each sun catcher, each follows the same basic construction process.
First a design is developed, then glass cut to effectively form a glass ‘jigsaw’. Small pieces may only have a handful of pieces, others could contain hundreds of pieces of cut glass and frit.
After the glass has been assembled, it is taken to a kiln for its first firing. This means the glass is heated to temperatures in excess of 800 degrees centigrade before cooling in a controlled manner, each visit taking at least 15 hours.
The first firing will produce a flat design. Subsequent firings are used to add additional design elements or to slump the piece into its required shape.
All my sun catcher pieces are individually made and therefore there are never 2 the same.
Purchasing from my shop means you get the piece shown in the photograph. ( if you want something else then please let me know.)
