An Icy Blast – Hand Dyed Wool
The arrival of Merino & Corriedale back in August ensured i was ready to dye, however, with the opening of our new shop this has sat on the back burner till now. Finally I’ve had time to welcome An Icy Blast, this is a Silk Purse Guild exclusive colourway. Definitely my favourite colourway in lockdown, it screams blue and cyan tones on a machine washable merino sock base.
Suitable for socks, hats, gloves and jumpers, well to be honest it’s great for any 4ply project you might have in mind. Please note my philosophy with my hand dyed yarns is that no skein is the same, so if you are using more than one skein in your project please work a few rows from skein one, then a few rows from skein two etc this will ensure a subtle blend throughout your project.
Now the technical stuff:
A 4ply 4/16nm yarn giving 400M from 100g, it is a super wash so 30 deg in a machine on a wool wash, or hand wash. Dry flat and please don’t tumble dry. A blend of 75% merino wool with 25% nylon, giving a soft but durable yarn which drapes beautifully (after blocking).
